Bird Watching in Nepal

Nepal being a land of topographical diversities criss-crossed by high mountains and turbulent rivers evolved a mosaic of diverse ethnic groups with their own individual & distinct culture & economy. Ours is an anthropological garden where diverse race, clans, tribes and indigenous people bloom in the not-to-be-found elsewhere Himalayan atmosphere. They live in the open plains, green hills and rocky mountains with perennial snow. Its varied, most exotic and unparalled physical and natural settings have immensely added to the cultural attributes of her people. Rising gently from the sea level to the highest peak on earth, possessing tropical to arctic climate and vegetation and inhabiting more than 36 ethnic groups speaking over 70 languages, Nepal really stands naturally, geographically & culturally unique in the world.

Columbus Treks & Expedition arranges the bird watching trip in Nepal where you will see different types of the birds including the National Bird as pheasant (Dhape) .Nepal is Bird Watcher's Paradise with 873 species (10% of the world's total bird's species) of birds. Nepal, though small in its size, has all kinds of habitats for birds-wetlands, lakes, tropical and subtropical forests, coniferous and Himalayan habitats.

We have been promoting bird watching trip with much interest and vigor, as Plan Holidays comprise the people of wildlife and birding background. Columbus Treks & Expedition works as a Naturalist in Chitwan National Park, Royal Bardia National Park, Sagarmatha National park, Shivapuri national park Tours also spent more than a decade in wildlife tourism and has extensively lead birding trips in various parts of Nepal.

Detail Itinerary.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.

Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to hotel. In the evening, we invite you for a welcome dinner in a typical Nepali Restaurant with cultural program.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing

Today, you will visit the medieval palaces, temples, Buddhist Stupas, monasteries and courtyards, all with intricate wood, metal and stone works. The places of interest are Pashuapatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 03: Kathmandu-Patan-Bird Watching in Godavari Botanical Garden

Drive to Patan where you will visit the Durbar Square, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple. From here, you will continue to Godavari. Check in hotel and after refreshment, bird watching trip in Godavari Botanical Garden.

Day 04: Godavari-Phulchoki Hill-Kathmandu

After breakfast, leave with lunch pack and hike up the Phulchoki Hill. Full day birding. In the evening, return to Kathmandu.

Day 05: Birding in Nagarjuna Forest and Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. Return to hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 06: Kathmandu-Chitwan ( 160km, 4 hrs).

Drive to Chitwan National Park and check in the resort. In the afternoon, short Tharu Village Visit.

Day 07: Birding at Chitwan

Full day birding trip in different vegetations of the park, from wetlands to grasslands to Sal forest. Overnight bungalow

Day 08: Chitwan-Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

A full day birding trip in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. Overnight bungalow.

Day 09: Flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival transfer to airport.

Day 10: At leisure in Kathmandu.

Day 11: Back to own destination.
