Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva and his divine better-half Parvati. It is one of the most important pilgrim centers for both the Hindus and the Buddhists. Apart from Hindus and Buddhists, Jains also acknowledge Kailash as ASHTAPADA and PADMA HARDA. They believe that Guru Nanak meditated here. Buddhists worship Demchook( the fierceful form of Buddha) seated on the summit of Mount Kailash. There is reference of Kailash in the Vedas, the oldest book in the world's library. There is reference to Kailash in the Puranas as well. Mansarovar is said to have been created by Brahma. Emperor Mandhata in Golden Age, Ravana, Bhasmasura and other in the Silver Age did penance to propitiate Lord Shiva. It is claimed that those who take the holy dip at Mansarovar and carry out the Parikrama around Kailash are absolved of their sins through generations and is absorbed into the Supreme Finality.
